Handover notes

Please use this page to write up any notes on anything that needs to be passed on to the next observer or should go into the end of experiment message.

Notes should be placed below the horizontal line as a new blog entry.

Continuing problems should be copied to the Current Issues page.

**Template for Handover notes:**

Be sure to add any specific notes about the experiment if required, for example “Special back end configuration for x reason”. Put as much detail as you can - the more the better.

It is ESSENTIAL to put your name after EVERY entry. Copy and paste the template into the new handover notes

Format for entering a comment It is important to stick to this formula - there is a good reason we need this information, so please include it!

Time stamp in UT * Comment * (Your Name)

For Example:

20:00UT: Wind stows, Missed scans 012-3456 to 012-3457 (Jim)

20:50UT: Mark5 lost connection, had to restart Mark5 and reconfigure DBBC, called Jamie on call to fix, missed scans 012-3456 to 012-4567 (Jim)

Again - as much detail as you can. It is important to remember that these notes will be sent to the correlator, so please make sure they make sense to others.

Also Drive status –> Not Ready. On timeke, it says that the E Stop has tripped. Called Mick, didn't reach him. Warren on the way though. (Katie)

Module currently in is too small, tonight's R1 is a double data rate experiment. Have contacted Mick, he is heading out to swap it for a 6TB disk now.

Received error “Problem connecting to metserver socket” for every scan (mas)

18:00 UT Experiment started OK (mas)

18:37:40 UT Log monitor started to report negative disk usage for some of the scans (mas)

19:53 UT Halt schedule to sync the Field System clock. Missed scans no0022 & no0023 (mas)

07:30 UT - Noticed autocorrelation spectra was not updating. Checked procedure file (compared to aua043) and noticed it was missing a bunch of procedures (including postob, which produces the spectra). Copied those procedures into the aua045ho.prc file, and reloaded it with proc=aua045ho. Now the spectra are showing up, and they look fine (Patrick)

11:34UT - windstowed: 11:34-11:56 (scans no00183-no00186) (Patrick)

16:55UT - S/X receiver cryo pressure jumped to above 6 microns Hg, and 70K stage started warming up. No point driving out to Mt. Pleasant to fix it, as experiment only has 1 hour to go. (Patrick)

  • Experiment started okay (Lucas).
  • Had to quickly restart dimino on mk5ke. Wasn't sure it was running correctly as it didn't have the “./dim r1845ke” in ps -ef | grep -i dim even though DIMino -m0 was running (Lucas).

  • Very windy at Yaggy. Pointing check interrupted. First few scans missed.
  • Note if comments.py doesn't pick up wind stows (or all wind stows) you can
    • grep “Auto” r1845yg_erc.log | grep -C 1 “Restart”
      • and it should get all instances of stows starting and ending (Lucas).

18:30:00 UT Formatter to fs time offset was high. Rebooting mk5 and sync did not fix the issue. Had to wait for Warren to fix it. Scan missed from 151-1830b to 151-1859. Recording resumed from 151-1903. (Atifur)

19:35:36 UT No delay drift was noted but alarm sounded with error “Delay through DBBC has changed”. Schedule halted and DBBC reconfigured. Schedule resumed at 19:42:16. scan missed: 151-1934-151-1943b. (Atifur)

Halt and resume schedule several times. Tried to reconfigure and reboot the DBBC. Received continuous alarm “Alarm large difference between formatter and maserdelay. Check for stability of new offset”. Delaylive show linear drifting. Missed scans 152-0022a to 152-0027a, 152-0054 to 152-0105, 152-0123 to 152-0138b (mas)
